I'm wondering if anyone knows how to display streaming text in SL using the QT viewer. By streaming text I mean something like the chat in an IRC channel.
There's a term SMIL that I think may be one way to do this. It might also be possible to do it with Flash. My knowledge of QT is mostly limited to knowing that I wish it wouldn't try to take over my file extensions and needlessly install itself in my quicklaunch area. I know nothing about Flash or SMIL myself. I do know that's its possible to display nicely formatted static and static scrolling text in SL using the qt viewer, but that is a lot simpler thing than displaying a live text chat stream.
I'm asking here because I figure the machinima crowd might know about quicktime in SL if they want to display the machinima in SL.
I don't have a particular project in mind; it just seems like it would be useful to be able to display good looking live chat in a better way than xyText, llSetText, mixed in with the general channel 0 or IM chat, etc.
