Hi

Does anyone have any recommendations for Joysticks for Flycam other than the LL recommended SpaceNavigator which is £53.05 in UK.

Let me know, I am sure other machinima creators would be interested in hearing your views :)

Thanks

Stacey

Hi Stacey,

I've been using FlyCam since it was introduced. I purchased and use a Logitech GamePad. I setup a 'profile' in the programme that came with the GamePad to make settings for SL.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but the results are far better than using Alt-Zoom or Camera Controls from the view menu.

One thing that happens to me, is it seems to stress the client, so slow movements are essential, quick turns usually result in the camera spazzing and ending up in the corner of a void sim somewhere, deactivating and reactivating the FlyCam brings you back in control. Even with my powerful and custom built system.

I prefer the GamePad as I can use 2 hands to make 3D movements, although I have yet to been able to asign any of the the other GamePad buttons to other functions such as turnning on and off the movie capture programme, or use the 'Aireon' (yaw and Pitch) functions, that maybe just me, or the inability to assign other functions of the GamePad mapping.

If you set your view by using the Alt+Zoom to a particular angle, then select the FlyCam option, providing you have turnned off 'Auto Levelling' your view maintains that angle. I am not sure what the 3D Cursor function does, it doesn't appear to alter anything for me that I notice.

Here is a link from our website showing the very first movie we made using FlyCam.. [url="http://www.wba-advertising.com/cheronne/cheronne.html
although there are many more examples on the website.

Oh and try not sticking your tounge out and 'steer' your view when using FlyCam... your family may think your meds are getting low LOL.

Stacey

Had to respond to that quote LOL... and Britain isn't responsible for the very first Drama broadcasts, or Shakespear didn't introduce and make popular the Dramatic Theatre etc etc..?

BTW I'm British as well...
