Hi gang....

Just decided to try my hand at machinima and I've downloaded both Fraps and XFire as both were recommended. But....I have yet to try either one. I've been told XFire is a gem for quality vids.....but what I need to know, is will I be able to dub music files to those vids? I have tons of music on my PC already..... just not sure how I would merge the vid and music. Any advice would be great~!! :o

But first le me clarify. You do vidoe capture first. Then edit/ compress to standard format. I capture in Fraps. Then edit/compress in Windows Movie Maker. I do audio dubbing at the edit/compress stage. I use Audacity to make the audio file. Then I put it with the video (after editing). Windows Movie Marker (and other editing software) easily lets you import audio files and put them where you want under the video.

Thanks....

I've got XFire and Windows Moviemaker....so I'm guessing I can work with that. Also, as far as the music files go......someone said they need to be mp3 format......not entirely sure if all of my music files are mp3........and if not, is it relatively simple to convert them??? :o

W Moviemaker will accept either .mp3 or.wav. For conversions, I use

Thanks~!

As it turns out, they're all in mp3 format....oddly, windows media player does NOT play the music files....I have to use Media Center. But, doesn't matter if I'm using movie maker to edit.....just thought it was odd that media player doesn't support mp3.

Genrally Windows Media Player does play mp3's. Yours may be failing the find the right codec. I have had things like that happen to me, particularly on XP.

You might try running Glary utilities:
