We started looking at ways to use Machinima Advertising as an Entertainment value added service, sometime ago.
Advertising in general, when on the TV, is perhaps perceived as a time to 'check on the children', or 'put the kettle on'. We wanted to try and make Advertising more appealing, so we developed storyboards, that would create Entertainment as a focus.
So far, we have been able to do this with longer advertising campaigns, such as UDS, Alice In Wonderland and The Twilight Zone Role Playing Sim.

Some of our earlier examples, such as the KittyBox Halloween movie,
http://www.wba-advertising.com/kittybox/halloween.html and a lot of the Fashion Show movies for our Group Company Nex-Core Model Management http://www.nex-core-mm.com/ by way of Theme Building, paved the way for this concept.
I was honoured enough, to give 2 seminars recently, one at the Orange Sim, the other at VIO, where I spoke about Machinima In Business.
Machinima is the perfect media for advertising, providing you can maintain the attention of the viewer, as is contains all the disciplines of most of the other media's (text, 2D's, sound, voice, music) wrapped in a moving picture show.
If we focus all our efforts on exposing the products/goods in the form of pure advertising, we may miss out on the Entertainment value required, to capture the attention of those people that are perhaps, not interested in the product, or so they believe.
Advertising does not have the sole goal of simply informing.. its other goal is one of delivery. This can be done by applying an Entertainment value.
These goals should be at the forefront of the mind of the Director, Editor and Storyboard creators. The measure of success will be twofold, those that enjoyed the movie based purely on the Entertainment Value, adjusted by the increase of interest, in the content of the Advertising (the product).
