How to save movies to disk

I was trying to capture a scene last night. I used the file menu, and selected File - start/stop movie to disk. (did a actually have to use the keyboard shortcut of control-shift-A, or was choosing it from the file menu enough?)

I did not see anything that indicated that it was "filming." Should I have? I reselected Fle-start/stop movie to disk when I was finished.

Did it actually save it? Where did it save it? I was not prompted for a location.

No, it doesn't work I'm afraid. I would advise using something like FRAPS (on Windows) or Snapz Pro X (on OS X).

It doesn't "work?" Then why on Earth is it offered as a menu choice?

/me shakes her head, realizing this is just one more reason to reinforce her decision to sell off her land, and stop paying tier to Linden for a crappy product that doesn't work, and crashes daily.

Thanks for your response, Ordinal.

It works for some people, but even when it does work it doesn't capture sound.

SL native video capture system

My experince with the SL native capture system is that it is inadequately docnumented, unreliable, or probably both. I use FRAPS. Assistance in using FRAPS is here:

Recommendations I have heard abut using the MAC are here:
