Hi all,
You know how SL is always defaulted to follow your avatar from behind, like a 3rd person shooter. Is it possible to set the camera controls to a certain view or position, say in the corner of a room and 'lock' that position, trained on a door for example and film your avatar walking into the room, front on. As soon as you move your avatar the camera jumps behind and follows you.
I'm on a Mac using Snapz Pro (Frapps) to film, which is great but I need a way of getting the camera angles right in SL. Or does anyone a good camera thingy you can buy in SL for setting up multiple angles. I guess I could sorta do it logged in with 2 avatars and have one view the other avatars movement. But I'd need 2 SL's running, resized to fit both windows on screen at the same time and that could get complicated.

There are some free camera tools that work as a hud:

http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=457119 locks the camer ainto place and you can walk around under it. Cheap and effective.

I have some freebie others I can't try now, but they can be set to act as followers or film you fron the front.

Qie Niangao's new "Camcaster" product will do this, using the receiver's "mirror cam" mode. And the receiver is free!

Shameless plug: We have a vendor for CamCaster at Lebettu. Go to the address in my signature. The vendor is at the other end of the market stall row.

If, from the "Advanced" menu, your check "Joystick Cam," your camera stays completely still, allowing you to walk towards it without seeing your own back! ("Advanced" is what replaced the client menu in the new viewer).

Geuis makes FilmPath for just such things. It is very adpatable for most movie making situations.
