The theme is “It Came From the Origin of Where Bad Things Come From”

At 12:01am PDT on Saturday, October 27th, I will post the theme for this year’s festival on http://edwood.moomoney.net. You will have roughly 48 hours to complete your Machinima. It is due by 11:59pm PDT on Sunday, October 28th. If you have any questions, I have provided my contact info on the Ed Wood site. Please keep me up informed if you are running a bit late.

For those not familiar with Second Life, movies must be in Quicktime format in order to be viewed in-world. Therefore I am establishing some ground rules for submitting to streamline the process:

* The theme name MUST be in the title of the movie.
* Movies must be 10 minutes or less.
* Movies must be available for download (use blip.tv if you don’t have a server), or encoded to Quicktime H.264 video with AAC sound.
* Please include your group name, nickname, real name, or Second Life name when submitting.
* Please include the name of the platform(s) you used to make the Machinima when submitting.
* Please submit it to machinimoo [at] gmail.

This festival is put on by fans of Ed Wood and Second Life (Open to other mediums this year!). No Infringement is intended on either of them. By submitting a entry, you grant Alt-Zoom Studios the right to use your film in promotional material, unless you request otherwise. Films with illegal or broadly offensive elements will not be eligible for screening or prizes. We reserve the right to refuse entries not meeting guidelines.

Methods of contact:

***Please note that I have been hearing reports of Alt-Zoom's website being infected with malware? Please visit edwood.moomoney.net for your information on this festival.***

Curious why you would specify this codex set?

H.264 is good maybe for specifically RTSP as a 'hinting' codex, but as a codex otherwise, it is less flexible. AAC, another OK codex, but again IMA 4:1 is far superior.

As QuickTime mov is a wrapper format, if you need RTSP, you can include the H.264 codex within, as long as you flatten the mov, it will incorporate the header file. Along with the encapsulated IMA 4:1 codex, you will gain greater flexibility.

Just MHO
