A Casual Race Committee has been formed to add a little fun to one set of races in SL. The committee is Lehua Lamington, Andre Richelieu, Carmelita Carrillon and James Newcomb.

Most casual races will have a theme. The theme for the first race will be "Keep Your Hats On." Come decked out in your best or funniest hat.

The casual races will be held at Mowry Bay next Wednesday starting at 5:00 P.M. sl time.
The landmark for the race site is. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Mowry/162/215/28/?title=Mowry%20Bay%20Yacht%20Club%20&msg=TP%20to%20MBYC%20.

This is to be a fun race where newbies and more expereinced sailors can get together and have some fun.

A party at the club will surely follow the race and all are welcome. Feel free to contact any of the committee members for more information or other ideas.

See you next Wednesday!

SYC and the Casual Side of Life
08-17-2006 07:07
Just a reminder that SYC will resume Sunday regattas (2 to 4 pm) after the Cup business is done. Glad to see some energy going into more casual racing. Our sunday racing is one rule only (starboard rights) and our Thursday series, while full ROW will ban any resident that starts to sound like the PROTEST arguments we now see in the Cup. GRIN.

Keep in mind, Hollywood is the home of the Faykin inspired beer can races as well as the Order of the Duck Hat sailing lessons.

So let the good time roll.

Oh, and we will annouce details soon about our upcoming Nude Regatta Series.

Mark

Saxxie’s Song

You joined SecondLife
To have some fun
Make new friends
Enjoy the sun

Then Mr. Kanker
Took us afloat
An amazing invention
An elegant boat

Suz and Myrrh
Faykin and Mark
Added some icing
Igniting a spark

We hoisted sails
Enjoyed good sport
Then hoisted a brew
When back in port

With so much effort
And so much work
Its been really sad
When griefers lurk

Lets sing together
With a common voice
Its friendships first
An easy choice

So look for the good
Eschew the bad
A slap on the back
And we’ll all be glad

My words are awkward
Clumsy verse
Smiling is better
Grumbling is worse

So SL sailors
Here’s your test
Ignore the trivial
And look for the best.

Is it truly nude sailing if you have a hat on?

Casual Races, MYBC, Sept. 6th, 5 PM SL Time

Casual Races, MYBC, Wednesday evening, Sept. 6th, 5 PM SL Time

Landmark to racing site is:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Mowry/1...%20to%20MBYC%20

The last two weeks the Casual Race Committee of Mowry Bay Yacht Club has held fun "theme based" evenings of racing on Wednesday nights at 5 pm SLT. Anyone whether new sailor or old sea worthy Captain, can participate and join in the fun on the docks of Mowry. This past week's theme was "Bad Hair Day" and the interesting hairstyles that came to sail were something to behold!

The start line is squirrely, to say the least. In spite of that many sailors came to race. Among the skippers and their passengers were: Brian Hawthorne, Chaos Mandelbrot, Jenny Darling, Pensive Mission, Gwendolyn Rosewood, Cap Tennant, timidator Woyseck, Lillie Guildenstern, Cory Copeland, Jamey Sismondi and Many Junot. Thank you all for being there. It was a blast.

Next week's theme will be a "Western Wear" theme. As always, the themes are not mandatory, but rather a way to add to the fun and interest of the evening. Special snacks and drinks are served on the docks. Sailing races begin at 5 pm SLT and last approximately an hour with eating, drinking, and dancing afterwards.

If anyone has an idea or thought for themes for upcoming weeks that they would like the committee to consider please IM one of us. We welcome the opportunity to include all in these evenings - both new and old alike.

Sincerely,

Carmelita Carillon (Sismondi)
Lehua Lamington
