Automating shouts as a workaround
08-04-2006 18:36
For those of you who don't know, we're running tomorrow's Challenger Act 4 in Hepurn with a manually-timed Race Line. Anticipating these sorts of shout UI problems, we've taken advantage of the Flying Tako's shout feature to facilitate the ten-second countdown.
While seated as the skipper in a moored Flying Tako, once can configure a gesture thusly to ensure timely announcements: Chat: 10 SECONDS to the start Chat: /1 SH 10 SECONDS to the start This way a simple function key press can both speak an announcement in general chat and have the boat relay-shout it after a slight delay. I don't know if this suits your needs, but it works well for running manually line-judged races. ![]() |
