The release of 1.10 has some potential good news for Tako sailing. Specifically:
** Frame rate is improved when objects that would normally be rendered are hidden from view
Last week Cyn Linden indicated to me that she hoped this improvement would be included in 1.10 and it looks like it made it. How this relates to tako sailing can be seen in the paraphrase of the discussion i had with Cyn.
MTW: Lets say I have a 500 prim build on an island in Santa Rosa. If I created a 16 prim giant box and dropped it over the build so that it wasn't visible, would this improve refresh rate when in the vincinity of the build?
CL: As of today no. All 500 prims would be rendered by your client even if you can't "see" them. However with the upcoming release of 1.10 that should change. If the change gets added your client will only render those objects it can "see", so your box should work in that scenario.
Looks like the change made it. So between Statics testing of a more efficient Tako and with this change we might see some great improvements in sail graphics updates in the near future.
