Hi, I just had a non-Engtlish speaking German newb running riot on my island. Now it's really easy to eject and ban, but he was brand new (today) and probably just needed a good talking to.
I couldn't get any 'Live Help' response in 30 minutes, and couldn't find a German speaking Linden.
In the end I had to boot him and then clear up. And I expect he'll go on getting in trouble.
Any German resident who I could call on to do a bit of unoffical mentoring if something like this happens again? If so, give me a calling card in world please.
I don't like to see people get in trouble because of communication problems, and you might be able to help a fellow German if it happens again.

Hello ;D

Sorry, that you have trouble with german newibie. But we all at first here Newbies. The first step for a newbie is a newbiecenter or a Place with a mentor on his side. If give a lot of user the speak german and are mentor in sl ;D

In search give you german or deutschland and you have many groups with members the speak german ;D Pick you a member out this groups and send a IM ;D

Is so easy to help a user with another language, that I think ;D

Thank you for the suggestions.

It's quite difficult to think of a solution quickly while a non-English speaker is zooming around, shooting up your island and dumping large objects all over the place. :-)

But I'll certainly give your ideas a try if it happens again, just before I eject and ban.

One thing LL seem to have overlooked badly is some sort of minimal user guide in multi-language format. After all, what use is a TOS and user guide in English to non-English speakers?

Though one might wonder how a non-English speaker managed to sign up in the first place...?

Web forms are pretty standard; my German is at a basic level but I managed to sign up for web hosting in Germany (it's so much cheaper than here in the UK!). What do you have on the SL form these days? "First name", "last name", "email address"... standard stuff that most people would be able to grasp.

True. I forgot they'd made it easier for 10 year olds to sign up...

Still, given the excuse for the changes was to bring in the international users, you'd think some sort of minimal attempt at internationalising the documentation would have been in order wou...

Wait - no, WHAT am I SAYING? Of course not. After all, this is SL

'Ere! I'm not ten. I'm at least eleven.

They could get users to translate the documentation. For a fee, of course.

Don't tell lies. It's naughty. If you do it again you'll go to bed early without your supper.

Hey! - a non-english speaking must not be a German. It well could be a Austrian or Swiss (but a Swiss must not speak German only). He/She could speak italian, french, romantsch (don't know the english translation) or German.

Statement is just for political correctness and protection of minorities ;-)
