Searching for OZORA NO CHIKAI (Vow in the Skies), a Japanese film released by Shintoho Co. Ltd. in 1951 or 1952 featuring Kuchi Asami and Ken Uehara. Two pilots, Japanese and American, are shot down and land on a deserted island where they learn to depend on each other to survive. I have tried several Japanese film archives with no luck so far. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The director's name I have is Jack Abe. Not sure about the exact English title. It may also translate as A PLEDGE IN THE SKIES. This film was not copyrighted in the US.

I don't think any English version is comercially available.

1952 Shintouhou Directed by Yutaka Abe
Screenplay by teruaki MIyata, Ryuzo Kikushima

Starring, ken Uehara, asami kuji, kyoko Kagawa, Robert Fleming(Flemming, etc.)

*****

I went to the IMDB.com for Yutaka Abe, and Ken Uehara however, above film was not listed in IMDB database.

****
The story is like what you said, foreign pilot going to see Japanese service member in Tokyo, get involved with some family intrigue with Japanese guy and his girlfriend...

Uehara Ken is a well known actor, however I am not remotely aware of these B rated japanese movies. hehe (And before my time! definitely.)

Thats all I can get from Japanese websites so far.

Dearly Darling,

If you do find this movie let me know...if Rex Rebel shows it in his movie theater I'd love to see it. A more recent redo was with Lou Gossett Jr. and one of The Quaid boys. "Enemy Mine" Done as a Sci Fi movie.

Ever Yours,

Mrs Showdog Tiger
