I've flipped on the "can reproduce" flag in Never Rust's code snippets for the first time last night, and after much tweaking of parameters, I think I've found birth/death rates that allow for a relatively stable population size.

The reproducing gridlice queens and their drones are underwater, in a cove at Terminus 125,198,15. and also at 54,182,18

They are competing for food right now with an old generation, controller-spawned gridlouse and her drone, as well as an immortal fish by Jaime Spackler.

In addition to Never's Food Spore Mushrooms, they are subisting off a plants that are "alive" or "dead' based on cellular automaton rules (a la the "Game of life";).

If they're gone, it means they begin to birth babies a little too fast. But it's been stable since late last night. (although perhaps update down time dulled things up a little).
