Downtime
09-02-2004 11:06
They said in the forum that there is good news and that everything is fixed, but I still cannot contact region in my login process for either my home, `or` my last location.
Something needs to be fixed, or compensated because since the 1.5 patch, I haven't been able to stay connected for more than 5 minutes it seems like most of the time, and I'll be damned if Linden Liasons are going to tell me all the problems are because of my computer when the map server loses track of 30+ different region maps, including my home Map in Dusun.
I'm sure there are alot of other people dealing with this trouble as well, and hopefully they'll hurry up and give us another update.

Guys, Shoot happens. There are no perfect servers that are up 100% (edit SL in world issues separate) Hardware fails all the time around the world. Be lucky it wasnt for a day or more. Its happened elsewhere. I have seen downtimes of over a week while the company that owns the server(s) wait for fed ex to get the parts.
Its life. luckily it does not happen offten.

Its life. luckily it does not happen offten. At the very least, they could let folks know that they're waiting for parts rather than leaving it at the point they have so far. They've currently said. From: someone Originally posted by Robin Linden Good News! We've moved to new hardware and the problem should be resolved. There's a bit of a back-up on the asset server, so it might take a little while to catch up, but things should be back to normal fairly quickly.
Thanks for a Herculean effort to Ian, Andrew, Doug, Mark and the rest of the dev team!

So, in short and not to be rude, Clint. They are not on the ball and if they have failed hardware, they wouldn't of said what was said in the quote above, unless this quote is to be read as "We have new hardware, but still haven't fixed the problem..." it's kinda hazy if you know what I mean... Things like this do indeed happen, and it's not unfair to ask compensation for blackouts in service that is being provided to those who are paying for the service. --Tasho Fairplay--

Its hard to translate technical problems into terms that the normal user would understand. I.E: if I said our nat tables crashed and we are re configing them now.
90% of the people here would have no idea what that meant.
(that was an example.)
I would like to point out that other online games have outages all the time, and many of them never post anything so the user knows whats going on.
But does it really help if a linden keeps posting updates if he has no real new yet?
Example:
Posted Sept 2 at 2:15pm still working on it
Posted Sept 2 at 4:00pm still working on it
Posted Sept 2 at 6:00pm Not yet
and so on.

It seemed more reliable for me since last night, but I of course have only been to a few sims. Do the sims that say "no image" in the map actually work, or are they dead?
