Great stuff, Hamster! Excellent piece of journalism. This is the kind of thing we don't and can't often see in mainstream media - actually getting together average joes from all corners of the world to discuss an issue of global relevance. Somebody build this man a pulitzer I eagerly await more NWN stories on RL stuff. This is a great use for SL.

Glad you're liking it, Eggster! I definitely hope to do more stuff like this in the future. (Tom is open to coming in for the autograph session we didn't have time for, so there's that. He seemed to enjoy the back-and-forth with Residents most, so hopefully it'll be book-signing with rat-a-tat.)

Also, I want to offer props to all the Residents who came and asked questions: the stuff they asked Barnett was as smart, lucid, and sharp as anything you'd get from audiences on CSPAN, or public policy forums, or any other convocation of smarties. (Probably even moreso.) I'm so proud that our Residents are such a brainy bunch. That's really what makes it likely that we'll have more events like this in the future.

Here's some people I would love to see in SL one of these days: Someone from the RIAA or MPAA. Lawrence Lessig. The man is a god Or even better, how about both of them simultaneously Someone representing the open source movement. Linus Torvalds! Eric Raymond, Alan Cox, or even Richard Stallman, tho he is a bit wacked in the head hehe Post your own! I'll post some more of them later if I can think of any.

Uberhacker Kevin Mitnick! Or "DVD Jon", or Dmitri Sklyarov... can you tell I'm a geek? A gay activist. It would be interesting to debate discrimination and same sex marriages etc.

Ya know there is no shortage of brains - the world does not need more brain-trust-power...There really is nothing new under the sun. What the world needs is the will to act from the heart...to begin living from an inclusive life.

Did I read the articles right? We need to go to war to modernize other countries as a way to protect ourselves?
