Photoshop and a lot of time, you can do it by using the 'face tattoo' (but instead of using it for it's intended purpose...)
You can find the face template on the SL fashion design templates section (whereever it is now). You will need photoshop, or a very advanced image editor, a good working knowledge, and about 2-4 photos.

why do you need to take a picture of your face sides of head and back of head?

Sides + Front is all you need at the bare minimum, providing you got 'clean' shots, and providing you are very skilled at piecing it back together, however using 4 shots, (top,front/left/back) will be easier to piece together, and generally produce a much better result.
