Any interest in Web/graphics design services?

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure this is the right forum for this, but it seems as likely as any. I've been in SL for months now -- LOVE IT -- but I've been musing on ways I could participate in the community from a business perspective. I'm a professional Web site and graphics designer in RL, and I recently had the idea that it might be cool to start an SL-equivalent business. I don't think I'd restrict it to only SL-related designs -- anyone in SL could hire me in-world to do designs for any project, SL or RL in nature.

Is that something people would be interested in? Of course, the price would have to be right. I imagine going with a flat fee for simple projects, and playing it by ear from there. What would you all pay for a pro-quality, well-designed Web site with several pages of text and graphics? I was thinking of somewhere between L$15K-20K. If you convert that to US$, it's way cheaper than anything you could get in RL directly. For smaller in-world design projects, like signs or posters or something, it'd probably be a lot less.

Hey, welcome to SL. I too considered doing this same thing, but I think that the prices you would have to charge in $L (~$20,000+ for full site design) are too scary for people. Yet, like you said in reality it IS much cheaper.

Nice site you have there! Yes, I realize that the high "number" in SL might seem scary even when it's in reality very economical. On the other hand, considering what people are paying for land, private islands, event coordinators, etc., it's not all that much perhaps. I of course don't want to gouge and want to support SL in any way I can, but I would need to make it worth my while to some extent as well.

Good luck. I tried hosting services using L$... people were like "L$1000 a month!?!?!"... I'm like, dude... thats $4 USD for hosting.
