Hamlet:

I am someone who is both curious and confused by what appears to be Lindens taking sides with new griefers over established players -- players whose events and attractions generate content to attract and keep new players. Could you possibly interview the Lindens and get their side of this argument? Thanks.

True, an investigative piece about the company and policy about player concerns would be a nice article to read.

No offense meant to Hamlet, but I doubt the spotlight will truly be turned from the internal players to the external company. I wouldn't hold my breath unless everyone from Phillip down to the night janitors have a chance to edit before print.

I have sought comments from the Lindens, actually--
usually, when their policies intersect with a wider, socio-
politico-cultural story (for example, in the Jessie Wall
story). The important thing to me is that there has to
be a broader issue involved, rather than merely, "What's
the policy for dealing with griefers?", and certainly not
anything on the order of, "This Big Event from Veteran
Resident A was ruined by Griefer B, and Linden Liasion C
didn't do enough to prevent it-- write a story about that!"
(I'm not classifying Jarod's story as that, necessarily,
just stating a general rule.) Because then, that would
make NWN an adjunct to or even a competitor with the
Liasions, and that just wouldn't work for many reasons.
For one thing, the interest to non-resident readers
would be pretty minimal. For another, I'm disinclined
to give *any* publicity to griefers, who don't deserve it.

All that said, Jarod, please feel free to give me more
details on the story you're referring to-- here, or in
IM, or e-mail hamlet@secondlife.com, and I'll look
into it.
