 A friend of mine recieved an award noticifation in his email, for an award called "developers incentive award". I asked him what this was for and how he won it. He had NO idea. I'd like to know, what was this award for exactly? Exterior & Interior of building design & textures? Also, how many different rewards are there? And are they listed anywhere on this site? Dev Incentives are paid every month to the people with the highest dwell throught the month. The number of awards each month varies because it's based upon the number of land owners. There were something like 45 given away last month, I think. Info on the dev. incentive recipients is posted in the announcements forum.

They tally up all the time people spend on a plot-by-plot basis, then apply points to the owners of each plot. Group-owned plots split the points evenly between members of the group. The top 2% are awarded cash "paychecks" for making Second Life more a entertaining place. While many feel this is too easy to cheat at (by having people spend time on your land when idle), the plot-by-plot tally is of "percentage of online time per day" and not "total time". This means that the MOST dwell any one person can contribute to a plot is 100%. Idling there any longer won't make any difference. Also, with more and more people joining second life (last total I heard was 17,000!) the effect of any single player is diminished. Dwell, as a metric of popularity and entertainment value, can only get more and more accurate as Second Life grows. Congrats to your friend for making the top 2% last month!

The dwell accumulated nightly (the points used to determine Developer Incentives) is distributed amongst members of the group that donate land to the group, proportional to the amount of land they donate to the group. Only the nightly L$ award for dwell is equally distributed amongst ALL group members. |

Ack. Wasn't paying close enough attention to what I was writting. Yes. The daily L$ payouts ARE split evenly, but the dwell points are distributed only to group members that contributed land allocation, and in proportion to how much of the total they provided.

Ok, so if i work for someone who owns land, I get the people on the owners property...he gets paid RL cash for the work I did....pfft lol
