I, Ulrika Zugzwang, would like to announce my candidacy for President of Second Life. Some of you know me as the animator of the Thriller video -- I will use those skills to "animate" the Linden bureaucracy.

I will seek to create a world which permits and promotes unrestricted but regulated free trade to create a truly dynamic economy. This includes the creation of auctions for individual users, a business catalog under the "Find" tab, and initial planning of an in-world stock exchange and bank.

Further I will seek to enact a progressive hybrid sales/income tax that only the richest of the rich would pay. Money from the proceeds would be returned to the public as both increased stipends and funding for public works.

I am the candidate who will fight for your rights. When I make a promise, I don't back down until I deliver (just read the forums)!

For those of you who have asked what form my governing body will take, I want to thank you for asking such an important question!

My governing body will not be me alone governing as a president, rather I will form a senate with each presidential candidate receiving a head count in the senate equal to their percentage of the popular vote. Each person in the campaign will be the president of their portion of the senate.

Thus if I receive 25% of the vote and Darwin receives 24% of the vote, I will have 25% of the senate seats and he will have 24% of the senate seats. I feel this will help give all voices a role in government and lead to a more conciliatory, less polarized public politic.

I spent most of the evening helping a group of new players learn how to script. I did manage to find a delightful group of people, one of whom, Psyra Extraordinaire, posed for a picture with my button on. It was a lot of fun. Later in the evening I found myself by coincidence in a shop with Cristiano Midnight and Gwinivere Grayson. After our earlier encounter in the animation forum, it made for a deliciously awkward encouter -- although it unfortunately didn't result in any votes. Darwin grows ever closer ... and cruises by.
