Might wanna try your firewall!!

Go under your firewall settings and see if your firewall is blocking the game or the website, lots of times this works for me. If not, i would contact technical support.

Why Wont it let me sighn in it keeps saying cannot connect and it makes me really really really really mad > ![]() I can't sign in either. The website says the grid is up, but other people are posting to technical that they can't log on either. I think they are upgrading to the new version and we just have to wait ![]() _____________________

I've had the same problem!
The message points me to the System status pages which says - Second Life is open! It was only by coming to the forum that I discovered that SL is in fact NOT open! Perhaps "Status Linden" needs to be retrained? |

Self awareness is a good thing, too.

You know, DNA, they may have checked the Second Life Grid Status site which states that the grid is currently up and running. I remember doing that before wasting a lot of time trying to figure out what was wrong with my system way back when I first joined SL. After stating that "the most current information available about outages, maintenance, or other known problems is always posted here first" it does give a link to Second Life Announcements, though. I guess that's the awareness part you speak of.

If you attempt to connect to Second Life right now, it suggests you visit the system status page - which as we all know, does not receive updates. For new residents, this is a problem. Either the client should not suggest to folks that they visit a page that contains faulty information, or the commitment must be made that the status page will receive timely updates. Chalking it up to an RTFM issue seems to me to be a cold response if we expect to attract and keep new residents, IMHO. _____________________

This morning I could have saved a lot of time if the first time I connected it simply said "Down for system maintenance - Back at noon." What is so hard about that? As it is now, when you cant connect, there is usually no way to tell what the problem is and one spends hours of time trying to figure it all out, this even *with* access to the forums. If you dont know about the forums, you have probably quit SL in frustration by now ![]() _____________________

for those of you going thorugh SL withdrawals, and whose accounts are old enough, you can always download the preview version and spend your time in ther, just playing around
![]() If you can't get in to the preview then the snapshot was taken before you joined, and you will have to wait for the regular SL to come back up. |

It is just slipshod...

Up until the last few upgrades, LL ran a login message alerting residents of impending upgrades. What happened to that? I agree that the message sohould not lead one to a page that does not accurately reflect the status...that reference, if continued, should also give the URL of the page! Where is it, anyhow?

Up until the last few upgrades, LL ran a login message alerting residents of impending upgrades. What happened to that? I saw the notice of the upgrade and today's downtime while logging in yesterday. It was a MOTD rather than a popup. |
