I began my exploration of Argent in a nice little gazebo up on the hill. The location was on a plot named Tinker’s Toyland located in the very centre of Argent. Taking a quick look around, it would seem like argent is a land under construction. Particularly, from where I was standing I could see two large buildings to the south and to the northeast that appeared to be in the beginning stages of construction. I thought about construction sites in the First Life world and thought, wouldn’t it be a good idea if people put a sign up in front of their projects letting others know what is being built on the site? The ocean coast can also be seen to the south and northeast of the gazebo. A cabin and green house sits on a ridge just to the east. Just to the east of the gazebo is a small stone circle set in the ground. The circle is the beginning of a path of stepping stones that leads down into a deep valley that runs through Argent. The stepping stone path curves off to the south. Two pathed stone paths hook up to the stepping stone path at different points, one heading west to the ocean, and one to the east where it hooks up to a simular path in the next sim.
The Aspen – The Aspen is the cabin I saw from the Gazebo. It is a nice well constructed summer home also owned by Madison Livingstone. It appeared to be a private cabin so I just looked about the outside of the property. I noticed the hot tub is the same design as the one I saw on Cape Destiny. Overall it gives me hope that the construction Mr Livingston is doing on the next lot over will be something very nice.
Wacky Chris House – Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. This is another private home that was sitting just to the left of the aspen. It is worth mentioning because this cabin had a curved window that wrapped around the cabin on three sides. The cabin sat on a high ridge and looked like it had a nice view. Now the dominant view is a high empty flat ridge someone had built a bright red “Donate” box on the corner. Also more construction going up in the east made this less of the rustic hideaway that it once was. The cabin itself is nice though it seemed more modern then rustic. It had an upper deck with an out door hot tub. The water flowed down the ridge and about a water stage of black marble and into two large stone bowls .Around the corner was a large saltwater fish tank full of brightly coloured corals. A large stone with a water fall sat in the back lawn of the cabin under a tree. That’s what this place needed. More trees to make this place more secluded.
Argent Seaside Shoppes – The Argent Seaside Shoppes seemed to be an open air market crossed with a strip mall with lots of booths where people can sell various objects. This market seems to have been made to fly into. Although it has outside entrances, they are not very conveniently placed. The one to the north actually drops down a metre off the edge. The items sold are pretty much average for open air markets including artwork and photographs of questionable origine.
Knox Manor – A large manor was under construction in the northeast of Argent right on the sea coast. It appeared that the manor will be a two story structure with a grande stairway, large foyer, and north and west wings. In the back was a large well lit pool built just off the sea with a large gold K monogram image upon the near end of the pool deck. I believe that the location was an important factor in deciding where this manor would be built. It sits on a coastal corner with views of the sea from both the west and the north. The front entrance of the manor centres upon a large waterfall located just northwest of the gazebo. It was clearly the best natural view in Argent. The waterfall was placed in such a way that it is not easily visible from other parts of Argent. The waterfall tumbles down angular rocks and is surrounded by willows which further conceal it. It flows into a stream that runs past the manor to the south. The waterfall is a nice secluded spot compared to the rest of the rather open Argent.
Notes:
Northeast Side Construction – The construction site to the northeast, owned by Madison Livingston, is still in the very early stages. From what I can see so far it appears that the construction could be a two story Itallian villa with an interior courtyard. Mr Livingston also has a yacht in the water next to his property. Possibly a temporary home.
South Side Construction – The south side construction turned out to be a home in the early stages. I met the owner, Ravi Zuma, who was working on the house. She says that she is trying to make a home that will conform to the land. She likes a larger home because small rooms are hard to move about in. I spoke to her a little and asked what she knew about Argent. She said that a lot of the land seemed to be owned by corporations or groups. Not a lot of people actually lived in Argent which explained why so much was undeveloped.
Red Donate Sign – The high ridge with the red “Donate” sign turned out to be the Argent Sandbox. It had been placed in a very prominent place. It is one of two high sandboxes that are part of a learning centre in Argent.
