Welcome to our newest member, ljsndgoansdgdafh BurkeIt would be tragic to see things reduced to the point where everyone is named GothikChik39271. Will they add new last names to SL eventually? And if so, will newcomers charge L$ to marry them and get a new trendy last name?

From what I understand they allow something like 150 people to register a last name then that name is removed from the available list. They add new ones pretty often to make up for the removed ones.

Indeed, they don't control first names, so things like ljsndgoansdgdafh or GothikChik39271 would be entirely down to the person registering the name.

New names are being added all the time. I sometimes browse the list in the signup page, just to see what they've added.

New names seem to pop up every day. However, I wonder whats in the water at Linden Lab that makes them come up with names like Zugzwang.

I am still wondering who the genius was that came up with 'Filth" for a last name. Note that it didn't last long.

They've also been coming up with some history themed names like Bismarck (Otto Van Bismarck), Ferdinand (Franz Ferdinand), Richelou (Cardinal Richelou), and whatnot. I personally like those names being a history guy, but I don't bond with names such as Murdock and Gorky. But I can't complain too much.
