To prevent the heavy lag and over-capacity crowd at Cory's last appearance, I'm working with the Lindens to confine the live appearance to 100 audience members. We'll have many repeater locations, of course, and are planning to video simulcast the event, as well, but only folks at the auditorium site will be able to interact with Cory live, and get him to autograph the SL edition of *Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town*. Also, you'll get a chance to submit questions about the book before the event.

So if you want to reserve a place, IM, e-mail, or Private Message me ASAP. Your name will be added to the permissions list at the auditorium site.

Preference will be given to applicants in the following order-- when you contact me, also tell me what group you belong to:

a) Members of the SL Book Club who promise to read *Someone* before the 24th
b) General Residents who promise to read *Someone* before the 24th
c) Members of the SL Book Club who've previously read one or more Doctorow stories
d) General Residents who've previously read one or more Doctorow stories
e) Members of the SL Book Club
f) General admission Residents

Slots will probably go fast, so get your name in soon!

Hamlet,

At what time will this event be held?

2pm-4pm PST!

Still a fair amount of openings, so there's still time to IM me to get on the VIP list! Remember, preference given to folks who're reading the book...

OK, getting on the membership list just got a lot easier. Instead of contacting me and waiting for my reply, just go to SL, and do thus:

Find => Groups=> Search => "Cory Doctorow Book Club" => Join!

Not only do you get a reserved space for the event, you get first dibs on asking Cory questions about his book. But wait, there's more: "Doctorow fan" becomes your title. Wow!

Well, due to a long chain of technical difficulties (repeaters down, teleporters repeatedly blocked, video simulcast chopped up by excessive camera issues and pans/zooms), I ended up missing most of the event. Any chance of posting the chat log here, at least?

I'll be running the cleaned up version on NWN starting later today; if someone feels like throwing up their chat log here before then, go for it. (Or I'll pop mine up after I delete all the juicy, dirt-dishing IMs from it.)

Richie, you can pick up your own copy of Cory Doctorow's novel "Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town" at Bonifacio 249, 243. :)

Is the book still available anywhere? Was unable to find it in Bonifacio. I realize I'm a little late to the game, but I was hoping I might still be able to pick up a copy.

There should be a left-over dispenser in plum - on the platform with the fountain in the middle.

Also, the book is (mostly) full permissions; anyone with a copy can give you one.
