Here we go again. The SL client crashes on my Mac when it attempts to load the data for the new terms-of-service dialogue.
Previously, starting with the last October update, the client crashed when it attempted to load the data for the new login screen. I deleted the code for that from the application bundle; which was a procedure suggested by another resident, by the way, not a Linden. The client then displayed the old login screen, and functioned perfectly.
Now we have another change, and the same problem again. Obviously, the problem is that some Macs will crash when the client attempts to download data from the web. I have no idea why. But the solution is obvious and trivial: stop having the client try to download the data.
I'll repeat that: Stop having the client try to download the data!

Hey, I agree, mine is doing the same thing. It starts the agreement dialogue box then it crashes as it says "Loading...". If anyone has any suggestions for us on how to get past this or get it working, please post. Thank you. ~Kai Underall

client crashes on login

Just so that I know how to help - are you deleting all previous versions of SL in your Applications folder and re-installing the latest version? That was a suggestion from Linden support when I was crashing with the latest update.

From: Rachel Corleone Here we go again. The SL client crashes on my Mac when it attempts to load the data for the new terms-of-service dialogue. Just to give some feedback to the development team: in my own experience, the current release (1.12.3.6) is *MUCH* more stable than the previous. I had only a crash while attempting to preview a full folder of textures from my inventory. The texturing bugs i've experienced before (wrong, jumping, copied from UI) are totally gone, and that's a huge improvement making SL playable again. Tha main problem with the current release is... speed. The client is slowing down up to the point i have to rez the objects one by one by passing the mouse over. This happens after an hour or so of running, and ends in a totally "grey world". Just quitting and restarting, *without* cache cleaning, reloads the textures at full speed. I must mention that i have high packet losses. In general, the UI is quite slow, making interaction painful (backspacing in a text box, pulling a menu). This makes me hesitate to upgrade to Premium. iMac PPC 1.8GHz/1Gb, GE Force FX5200 64Mb, Mac OS X 10.4.7, disk almost empty.

Still not Answered

Hey, I realize that there might not be an answer, but still, the previous reply didnt help in any way. We may have griped a little but we are asking for some help. Does anyone, have any idea of why our clients are crashing at login. REPEATING -- the client crashes/freezes, when a new terms of service agreement box pops up at the login progress bar--. Any help would be very very very appreciated, I have people waiting on me for important things in game, i like being loyal and keeping my ties strong with them. Thank you.

p.s. yes i did delete previous versions from the applications folder, the problem still persists.
