"Your clothing is still downloading"

I have this really MAJOR issue with Second Life.
I'm using the latest stable version of the official SL viewer (that's 1.23.4 123908, and I've tried with other viewers too, and I get the very same issue), and I encounter the following issue each time I login.
"You clothing is still downloading".
I've used the same clothes before, haven't bought any new ones, I have the very same 12Mbps connection, and I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.7 on a Late 2007 20'' iMac.
My avatar won't appear at all, and the same goes for all the other avatars, and most of the remaining landscape, models, textures, etc.
I have the maximum bandwidth to the maximum, and the disk cache size too.

After some time, the connection times out, and I have to quit the client (not Force Quit, just quit).
WHAT CAN I DO??? I CAN'T USE SL AT ALL!!!
What do you suggest?? Is this a known issue?
Please, help!

The clothing is still downloading is an old lie that the client keeps repeating.
Things set to maximum really cause more problems. Set them to the default first of 500 each.
Have your tried clear cache? and/or rebaking your avatar. Also loggin into a empty sim like balance until the clothing loads helps.

I've set the bandwidth and the cache back to 500, cleared the cache, logged in and rebaked my avatar, but still nothing... :(
I managed to transport to the Ahern Welcome Area, but still nothing...

EDIT: I logged in with my old character (who has no custom clothing at all), and I still have the issue!!

I've been getting that lately too. And sometimes I'll get it where other people see me as the Cloud Man, but I look normal to myself.

Wear or attach something - anything. And it'll have the system "reload" you. You need to wait until most of the "world" has rezzed in too - which seems to take a month lately. Once you have rezzed, you can detach whatever you added to your ouftit.

Doesn't really fix the issue, but... at least you'll be able to see yourself. lol

Tried it on my brother's 24'' iMac too (NVIDIA 9400M), and on my old computer with Windows XP, just in case there was something wrong with the Mac viewer or something.
Had the same issue...

Since the problem is one another system sounds like you might have a problem with your inventory. File a support ticket and tell them that the problem is on more than one machine and the steps that you have taken already and ask them to check you inventory. It might have gotten corrupted. Depends on which Linden you get to respond. Some just read you the knowledge base and close the ticket and really don't try to fix the problem. A good one will, so it might take you more than one ticket to get the problem fix.

I don't think this will help, cause I'm having this problem with my other avatar too, who doesn't have any custom clothes on him, or in his inventory.
Thanks for your help though.

The only other solution could be that your ISP changed some network settings on the back-end, or your dsl router needs to be reset.

Switch back to the 1.22 client.

I'm sorry to say that...
But that doesn't work either.

those problems sound like internet connection problems. Need to make sure your network and connection are fast enough and set up right... and try (just for a test) disabling any firewall and security software you have that could be blocking things.

What kind of internet service?

Have you turned your computer, modem, router, and any other devices off for a few minutes?

Wired or wireless?

If there's a router involved, try removing it from the circuit.

Are your ports opened properly?

My advice is: Advanced > Character > Character Tests > Test Female or Test Male

This should replace your outfit with one that is bound to work. Afterward, you can put your desired outfit back on.

If that doesn't work, I'd say you had poor connectivity or something preventing the clothing downloads from working
