Hi there,

I used to run SL on windows, but recently have been getting back into may mac (after straying for a while) and have been running SL on my powerbook for a couple of weeks now.

Believe me, SL on Windows is far from perfect, but I am generally disappointed with the speed and reliability of the Mac client. However, its nothing insurmountable, and I will probably persevere since the other benefits of the Mac are many and a wonder!

However, one problem I have noticed far more on the mac client is objects taking far longer to rez than on windows. And not just that, but on the previous couple of days I have noticed objects actually disappearing (they WERE rezzed but now they are not). I have not seen something disappear before my eyes, so it is hard to tell when it actually occurs.

For example, I was talking to a friend outside my house in Wingo the other day. When I turned round, half of my house (which I had just spent considerable time putting in place) was GONE!! I asked him if he saw it, and he saw it no problem. I waited a few minutes to see if it would re-rez but it did not. I was not experiencing any packet loss at this time according to the indicators at the top of the screen.

I relogged, and alakazam, my house was back.

Second occurence. I had left an object on the front porch of my house, along with a star wars style speeder bike. I had just persuaded a friend to sign up for SL but sadly his PC doesnt seem up to the task of running SL :-( So, I let him log on as his AV with my mac. After he finished the orientation, we took his av over to my land on wingo. The objects I had left outside my house were gone!
I didnt have a chance to relog since I had to go do some work, but when I got a chance later on, I logged on with a PC this time, and the missing objects were there as if nothing had happened.

I dont know if this behaviour is because of the mac, my connection, or what. But it is very disturbing.

Before I report these as bugs, has anyone experienced anything similar to this? And have you seen it on Windows too?

Thanks a lot!

This is not because of the Mac. :(
