Reduce size of SL *.BMPs with iPhoto?

Can SL's huge snapshot bmps that I've downloaded to my desktop be modified by iPhoto to reduce their size (not sure how to 'save as' jpg, and adjust quality)? Or do I need Apeture or PS Elements to do that? I'd like to email some to non-SL friends. Thanks, Bamboo

I think you can use Preview. Just use Preview to view the BMP file than select Adjust Size under tools. When you have the size you want just do File - Save As and select JPG or whatever format is available.

Preview should help you resize and save in different formats, but not much else in the line of editing.

:)

Yes, I use resize in the iphoto tool menu. Then I always save as a png. Png seems to keep a better image quality then jpg. But for really intense photo cropping and quality enhancements, you need photoshop, Gimp or other software dedicated to that task.

GIMP works great.. and its Open Source and a free download.

AquaGIMP has some weird issues making it hard to use.. last i tried... normal GIMP has to use X11, so if you did a default install of OSX without X11, you'll need to install X11 from your OS disc for it to use.... I think Apple support x11 is working ok now in GIMP, I had to manually update mine with an open source build of X11. back when Leopard first was released to get GIMP working.
