I have a new MacBook Pro, with the 512 meg VPU and four gigs RAM. Nice machine, my first Mac in 20 years or so. It runs SL like a charm, no complaints there, but it does have one problem: the microphone and SL voice.

No matter how I tweak the OS X audio settings and the SL audio settings, I always get something akin to feedback/underwater-like sounds and the mic picking up all the ambient noise around me. This applies to using either the built in mic on the Mac, or my headset mic. Anyone else have this problem or any solutions?

Thanks!

I have an older Whitebook, and the line-in doesn't work with SL Voice. I've also heard from a friend with a newer MBP with the same issue.

The problem seems to be solved with a USB headset.

I have a usb headset and voice sucks. Was working fine before the latest updates to the viewer. Sometimes when I have everything set up, sounds and music come to my headset but voice goes to the speakers.

I get the reverb and echo too. Sucks.

Using a USB headset works fine. Good sound but i find it does crash SL Voice occasionally. If i want to tlak to a specific person i often use Skype instead.

dunno what the problems are with yall machines... using built in Mic or a USB headset on 2 different Macbook Pros works just fine for me, no major audio issues or crashes... only bug i run into is sometimes not being able to see my own green waves, even though its working, but thats pretty random.
