Mac OSX 10.3.9 auto-update issue
Anji Riel Registered User Join date: 22 Apr 2006 Posts: 3	05-26-2006 14:57 I haven't been able to log in since the auto-update I was forced to make this week. Each time I try I get the following error message: Unable to connect to Second Life. Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong. Please check secondlife.com status and the Second Life Announcement forum to see if there is a known problem with the service. Been watching the Announcements forum for updates on bug fixes for Mas OSX 10.3.9 the past two days. It isn't clear to me from today's announcement if Linden feels this issue has been resolved or not? I deleted the game and redownloaded it directly from the site, but I still can not login. The support FAQ gives instructions for Windows users to uninstall, but not Mac users, so no help there... Of course, Macs don't have graphic card drivers to update, so no help there, either. What am I and all the other older Mac users to do? Just stop playing the game?

It sounds like the update downloaded alright but something's blocking the connection--because Second Life is up and open right now. Anji, I don't know much about Mac specifics, but you wouldn't happen to have a firewall or router in the way, would you? See: Notes on Updating Second Life As is often the case with updates, various firewall and virus software will no longer recognize Second Life as an approved program. To re-enable Second Life you must first remove it from the approved list in your anti-virus or firewall software, then add it back in to the approved list.
