People, I've been playing for awhile, but usually never bother to check these forums. The number of threads starting in "OMG HLP HLP LINDENS FIX THE CLIENT" is incredible. Given, some of these are serious issues, however you need to consider:
* The mac client uses the imperfect MONO .net framework to run. Ever notice that extra 30mb on the download file? All support files. Linden labs do not support nor develop this code, but its required to run at all. * The lindens TRY. Do you people know the number of online worlds that attempt to support more than one platform? Not many. Be grateful your playing at all on a mac. * The staff is only so big, and SL has >millions< of lines of code to debug.
>> Heres the big one.
* If your so god dam almighty, why don't you take the open-source viewer code, compile it for a mac, and see what YOU could do to help? Lets see how much YOU get done. For the staff size of Linden Labs, and taking in the fact people like Dan have families at home, they get a HELL of a lot of work done.

The OP seems intent on causing hard feeling or drama with his/her remarks and I don't see anything coming of this thread except more hard feelings and drama!

I was refering to the drama quoted above, cursing people for voicing a complaint about a product that should work (at least better than it usually does). Expecting consumers to repair and troubleshoot a comercial product is just not a reasonable request! And, If you really are a developer as you indicated in another thread, why don't you spend some time on this forum and try to help with some of the problems?

because I'm busy patrolling numerous sandboxes and helping in world.
Mu Nikcin, you have no idea what its like to run such a large project, and with no frameworks to work with either. Thats it. All I'm going to say.

Jane, Thread starters like that serve no point.
The best thing people would have been to just ignore her and need feed her ego. Lets try to help each other and not "bash" each other.

For the staff size of Linden Labs, and taking in the fact people like Dan have families at home, they get a HELL of a lot of work done. I should be happy LL offers me a chance to play in their world on my computer? How altruistic of them. It has nothing to do with making money from Mac users. I've seen this all over the web, throw together a Mac client put it out there and if there are problems, at least they offer a Mac version. As if I'm supposed to bow and kiss the feet of LL for giving me a frustrating user experience. And no, I'm not going to compile and build a viewer. It isn't my job. By job I mean employment. What they do to get paid to support those families you speak of. I'm not going to feel guilty because I want them to make the Mac client better so I can entertain myself with their product. They aren't doing me or any of the Mac users favors by providing a client. If the client doesn't work, the user has the responsibility to let the vendor know, that's something you need to consider.

i really wish people would quit spreading this fud. the mac client is twice the size because it's a universal binary, supporting both ppc & x86. the windows client would be just as big if it supported x86_64 or ia64 in the same binary as well.

Shaved off 40Mb. Sweet.
