Hi all, I'm on a Macbook Pro 2.13 core2 2gig. I've completely lost all audio in second life. I've been through all of SL settings, all the audio is turned up and on, streaming is on. There dosn't seem to be anything wrong with the Macs audio settings, can still hear music or videos or any other sytem sound, voices etc while playing SL.

I've deleted all SL prefs and dumped the cache and did a complete reinstall of the latest client, still dosn't work. I'm begonning to think the pronlem must be with SL (from the server end, not the game) I mean it was working last week then suddenly this week it's not.

Is anyone else experiencing total loss of audio or knows any Mac features I should reset. I was playing around with a few soft phones on the weekend and vaugly remember someone saying one of them had the potential to screw up sound but can't recal which or how it relates to SL. Something to reset on the Macs sound card maybe?

your bit rate is probably changed by some other software and SL doesn't like it. Go in your Applications then Utilities folders and run Audio Midi Setup.app

in there select in the drop down what device you want to see the properties of... probably built in output on your system, but not sure (should be self explanatory). Make sure the output is set to 44100hz and 2ch 24bit.... its what SL likes. after you change it you probably have to restart SL if you had it running.

I have a similar issue on a 2.4 MacBook Pro running Vista and its driving me crazy! not sure if it does so in Mac OSX. this started for me 2-3 weeks ago, at first i thought it was related to the Nicholaz patch for 1.19.1.4, but even without the patch installed i lose almost all audio within SL. No stream, wind, sounds, or UI sounds, all i get is voice and media sound. I too verified that other apps had no audio issues like iTunes and WMP and that are no hardware issues. I see you have tried this already but i have found that clearing cache seems to bring the sound settings back. even reinstalling the client didn't always remedy the situation. seems like i need to clear cache almost every time i log in to get the audio back.

My SL app is slowly dying

I have 1.19.1.4 (Cool SL Viewer) and have recently lost all media - Voice, Music, and Video. It started with the last client install last month, when my Voice button went gray. About a month later, I have 1.19.1.4 installed for about a week, and my Audio and Video buttons disappeared. Just disappeared. Won't come back, either.

I tried the suggested Midi utility check for sound output - it was defaulted at the suggested setting .

My Prefs are set and have not been touched, my volume settings are maxed, but the screen buttons are no longer present.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Since December 2007, my SL features have gone away, one by one...

I can't teleport between sims (only intra-sim). If I try, SL quits (doesn't freeze, it goes about 1/3 of the way on the progress bar, then says 'you have been logged out of SL', allows me to 'Continue' or Quit'; Continue meaning NOT online, just some local capabilities)
I can't Upload any Images. I'm told the server is having difficulties.
Can't save a Snapshot to disk. I'm told the server is having difficulties.
Can't Save a Notecard. I can create one, but if I Save, I'm told the server is having difficulties.
Can't use Voice - its Activation button is grayed out
Can't hear Music - Music button is gone
Can't watch Video - Video button is gone

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, automatically and manually removed cache, set and reset Prefs, relogged hundreds of times.

I also can't buy more than 1,000 Linden at a time from the upper right corner currency thing. If I type any other number, it reverts to 1,000. What's up with that? I can request 1,000 several times, but only 1,000 at a time. Sigh.
