I'm running on a G5 with two dual-core 2.5 GHz processors and an Nvidia Quatro 512m video card, Leopard and 4GB RAM, and every new update of SL seems to slow down even more.
I just downloaded the latest viewer and set the graphics to the lowest possible levels and shrunk my window to about 640x480, and could barely move around.
Any suggestions? Is it the PowerPC chips? The Quatro video card? Leopard?

wow, that is really odd if you had it on the lowest settings possible.
On the lowest possible it also still turns on VBO, maybe try taking that off? But i would think that would only help it run faster. Also make sure on the Advanced Menu (Ctrl+Alt+D to get it if its not there) that you go to rendering and select run multiple threads, helps when you have multiple cores.
Not sure what else to try but to back up your logs, get rid of the support folder, and the SL app, and try from scratch. I don't have any PPC machines anymore to test it on... but it runs great on my MBP.

I can't even login with the new viewer. I get as far as the region handshake then it tells me there's a problem with SL servers or my connection (which strangely seems to work ok with everything else) I can login with the Firstlook Dazzle or On Rez viewers without difficulty, but the lag in rendering textures has been the worst I have experienced in over 1 year in SL
I don't think I have any problems with malware or my own security software btw .. everything worked fine until the last update Ideas from anyone about why the other 2 viewers but not the latest main viewer work for me would be very welcome. system - NVIDEA GeForce 8800 AGEIA Physics PCI card 2.66 GHz 2 GB RAM
