MAC users and SW for Design

Was wondering if GIMP is a good choice for Texture, Skin, Av and editing/creations... I use a MAC and don't wnat to fork out a wod of money on Phostoshop, paintshop is unavailable I think for MAC and Corell Draw - not sure, I remeber using this 20 years ago. Any other suggestions for MAC users

I don't know GIMP but GraphicConverter is a great general graphics tool. Available as shareware with some features blocked. Unfortunatly it does not appear to to Tansparancies in TGA files, which is needed to make clothing, plants, etc, anything were part of the images is transparant.

I have used it for years, most recentlhy it came bunded and liscensed, registered to Apple Bundle Customers on ny PowerBook G4.
