I have finally had a chance to run tomorrow's 1.10.3(3) through the ringer tonight. Here's what I found (all tested on the MAC client only... on an intel iMac 20"

I. Inventory.
It is completely FIXED. Yayyy! All the bug fixes restore the previous behavior, with the "X" in the search bar replacing the old "show all".
Searches even work correctly in the "recent items" tab too!
Yayyyy this was a huge set of fixes.
Bug fixes:
* Clearing inventory search keeps the current item/folder selected [tested!]
* Receiving or moving inventory no longer expands all folders [tested!]
* Searching under All Items only shows folders containing items searched for, by default [tested!]
II. LOD
* Adjusted LOD based on resident feedback [tested!]
Yes, LOD problems seem to be a thing of the past... it [seems to be] FIXED! The LOD is more like we are used to, with little lag in bringing objects up to detail.
I have to admit I didn't test this feature as much as the others as I never noticed it as much as other people did.
III. Texture thrashing/Rippled Water bug
* Fixed a performance issue cause by texture paging [tested and fails - NOT FIXED.]
Well, I don't know what issue they were fixing. But the main issue we have with rippled water being turned on causing slide shows near areas with lots of geometry (like any decent build) has NOT been fixed.
Not that brent said it would be in this build, to give him credit but I got excited by this bullet point.
To workaround this bug, you still have to either:
a) shut off rippled water
or
b) lower your graphic detail one level lower than your actual memory (e.g. if you have 128MB lower it to 64MB) and keep rippled water on
...to solve this problem.
Lowering the RAM seems to do nothing except keep textures farther from you blurrier longer... the closer you get, they will get sharper.
Sooo.. if you want pretty water, lower your graphics RAM setting.
If you want sharper textures further out and don't care about rippled water, just shut rippled water off.
NOTES:
A) Booting into Windows using BootCamp on the same machine .. in my case an intel-iMac 20", you can use rippled water no problem. It's definitely a Mac bug. For that matter, SL in BootCamp is noticably faster all around, though not by much.
B) The more graphics RAM you have, the less this problem is. On my Macbook Pro w/256MB of graphics RAM, the rippled water problem is much less apparent. And, you can go down to 128MB of graphics RAM in your settings and get a nice jump in speed. Having 256MB is the way to go.
III. Other Bugs.
* F1 Help no longer crashes on the PowerPC Mac in fullscreen mode [can't test.]
* Fixed an issue with the Mac autoupdate utility [we'll see when it comes time to update next round... for now download the full version]
* Resolved a simulator crash related to scripts [unable to test]
* Resolved a client crash issue [unable to make it crash... it is running as I type this!]
So there you have it.
Have fun tomorrow; I know I will. Thanks for the fixes and workarounds, Linden. Finally. =)
