Most mac users on OSX can't launch the new 1.20 RC7 Release Candidate version. If you want to get the previous Release Candidate to work again (version 6) here's how: Ok, Mac guys, here is the trick to still use the working 1.20.6 and avoid having SL force you to use the 1.20.7: 1.Right-click on Second Life 1.20.6 application, choose "Show Package Contents" from popup menu 2. Go to Contents -> Resources and double click on "arguments.txt" file 3. in that fle change --channel "Second Life Release Candidate" to --channel "Second Life Release Candidate 6" 4. Save and relaunch SL... DONE NOTE: At least one Leopard user found this didnt work for them, however, give it a shot.

The phrase "Most Mac Users" should be "Mac users with a PPC cpu". This isn't affecting the Intel CPU models that I've heard of. Everyone reporting it appears to have a PPC based Mac.
Just for accuracy.
Also, you can change the channel setting to "what a piece of @#$@# crap" or any other phrase not used by LL to check for updates to a particular viewer type (such as release candidate) and it works to avoid the update check. It does not have to be "Second Life Release Candidate 6" specifically.
