I understand from reading several other forum posts that MacBooks (not pros) are not ideal for SL. From what I've read it should be possible to play, however.
I am currently running a MacBook with a 2GHZ intel core duo, 2GB of ram, Superdrive etc with updated software.
Sl wont even load. Any graphic tweaks, downloads or suggestions?
Thanks

I'm on a white MacBook and I'm not having any problems at all. It's all splendid. Have you tried binning the cache or re-installing?

Sounds like I'm on the same Macbook as you (black one), but with only 512 MB Ram and it runs just fine. Only issues I've had were with the last client (couldn't keep the application in the applications folder or it would crash on startup) and the resolution wanting to change every so often for no apparent reason.

I'm using a G4 Powerbook 1.33 Ghz 1Gig memory and Second life works reasonable well. Do you have any other problems with other programs. If it's only SL try deleting SL in the Application folder and secondlife plist in the Library / Preferences folder. Then download a new client and install in a separate folder in the Application folder There is also a Second Life.crash log file in the Root's Library / Logs folder (just do a search on "Second" it can be helpful if you call/email Linden Tech support.

From: Willow Coanda I just signed up for SL, have a MacBook Pro with 2 gigs of RAM, dl'ed the latest client during my signup -- App won't even open up. Works fine on my G5. Upgraded last night, same problem. Send a support request last night.....no response. I don't need this crap. Maybe WoW is a grind, but at least Blizzard takes the Mac client seriously and verifies that it actually works before making it available. This is entertainment. If it's not immediately available when it happens to strike my fancy to use it, it's just not fun. As if the 3 to 5 minute ressing of objects isn't bad enough. I mean, come on.....I have a MacBook Pro with 2 GB RAM and a 2.0 GhZ processor. Running that config on windows XP is more than enough. But I'm simpy not going to set up a boot camp install just to play a game.

I'm not all that impressed with SL though, so I dunno how long I'll use it
