As a Mac user (High end/Low End,... PowerPC/Intel,) What tweaks, settings or hacks do you have to make SL run faster?.

Ok, here goes... I have an iMac Intel Core-Duo (17" with the bog standard 512MB of RAM. The adjustments I make are as follows. * Under the Graphics Detail tab, I uncheck the Shaders checkboxes. * I set Lighting Detail to "Sun and moon only" and move the "Flexible Mesh Detail" slider all the way to the left. * My draw distance is set to 64 m. * Object detail is set to two notches above minimum. * Tree detail is set to minimum. * Everything else I leave as the default. With the above settings I achieve an fps of between 50-60 in quiet areas, like my skybox in Clara. Hope this helps. Foxy ^^)

That will definitely speed things up! If you want to keep eye candy, however, the first thing to attack is draw distance. I am testing it in a very high geometry area of preview and lowering to 96 or 64m draw distance makes a BIG difference. (Then I hike the fog up to mask it a bit) Note the rippled water bug... which as I test persists in the upcoming 1.10.1.3. Turn it off to get rid of slowdowns/pulse lag/heavy texture paging. Or... lower your graphics RAM used one level lower than what you have. (E.g., in intel iMacs, they come with 128MB by default... lower your graphics RAM to 64MB.) -Beth From: Foxy Bascom Ok, here goes...
