wow, just cleared 6 gigs out of my 1gig preference sl cache! Now I dump it everytime I crash. Wondering if this is a Tiger problem? Didn't notice it before with panther. And crashing everywhere I go in SL now too. bummer

Even with panther, I delete my cache manually every couple days. I get a very noticable speed increase after doing it.

Attack of the GIANT MONSTER CACHE is something I've had with SL and OS X since August of last year, when I joined.

Clearing the cache on crash is a good idea. It seems that SL loses track of its cache size after a crash, so it balloons out of control after just a few crashes.

I knew nothing of this till one day, hunting to see where all my space had gone, I found 27GB of SL cache.

Yes! 27 GB. In Panther.

I think every time you swap between alts, it starts a new cache file, leaving all the old ones sitting there. Or it may be each time you crash. Be warned,
