Is it safe yet for a Windows user and avid resident of SL to buy a MacBook Pro?

Will I be able to run SL with out having to revert to Vista?

Will my MBP burn out it's fans, burn me, and then crash and burn if I try to play SL on it?

Is it safe yet?!!

Don't be ridiculous. As long as you use the patched Nicholaz viewer, you should be able to get along just fine in SL.

All this nonsense about the Mac not being "safe" to run in SL is nothing more than blatant hyperbole, designed to ..... *ssszzztttt* .....

THE MBP will burn you and will crash.
But it's just a beginning...
The burn will spread to your entire body.
Hair and teeth (optionally breasts) will fall.
Hackers from the entire net will have free access to your data and you ID.
Your bank account will be emptied in the name of His Greatness Steve Jobs.
Human sacrifices will be made of your family by Apple fans to exorcize mac OS 10.5 and iphone latest bugs....

Otherwise, you will be fine.

WHEW! Well, I'm glad to hear that! I was worried about the breast thing for awhile there, but this clears my mind of fear! As long as I don't have to load Vista....

Thanks!

I believe the most recent video drivers for the MacBook Pro resolved the crashing issue, though I hear they do run rather hot.

However, Apple is within a month of making a new OS X release. You may want to wait until it is released, so you get the latest OS version with your purchase. And then wait a bit past that as LL works out any bugs that crop up with the new OS.

My MacBook Pro 2.13 GHz/2GB runs warm after about eight hours or so of full on SL (sailboat racing, motorbike riding etc.), and up here in the subtropics it can get a little uncomfortable, but other than sweaty hands, no worries mate!
