Sorry to open another topic ; I just dont wanna mix the subject.Also I wanna buy to me a macBook ,but my Wife dont like laptops and she loves big screen.

Im considering to buy a imac with 20" LCD and ATI Radion 2600 Pro.

Is this a good machine to run SL at leas on the High default settings ?

Don't be sorry; you'll probably get some good answers here. Another place to try, if you haven't already, is the Macintosh Users group in SL. Post a query at different times to catch more people when they're in-world and improve your chances.

Otherwise, my input is limited. I have a desktop Mac with a 19" monitor and am using a Radeon 9650 I got for better performance, and I am very happy with it. But all that tells you is Radeon makes a good product; the 9650 isn't going to fit in any laptop computer anyone ever saw.

It'll do it, but you'll probably want to keep the draw distance lower than the High default.

The 24" model with the Nvidia 8800GS is much faster.

I did some test on my imac 20' with the radeon 2600 pro

Sl runs fine and smooth, no problems.

With the graphices set to high, (standard setting for this mac, windowed 1100x900, draw 184m, all shaders except water reflections) i get 20 - 40 fps (closer to 40) in an empty sim with buildings and trees.

In a place with about 25 ava's within 20m (help island), i get around 15 fps.

Woww ! Its really sounds faster ! ok, probally nothing like a Nvidia 9800 and stuff..but still very well !

If I can use the same settings here (Im using a PC with a Nvidia 8600 GT and graphics settings on the high) will be awesome ! will be enuf to buy a iMac to my wife !
