Hey everyone, I'm running a 1.something GHz G4 PowerBook with MacOS X 10.3.9.

I've tried SL 1.6.4, 1.6.5, and 1.6.7, and I still can't login.

I've tried logging in via the wireless, via wired behind a linksys natting "firewall", and directly connected to my DSL modem with the firewall on the Mac turned off.

I still keep getting this error message that says:

Unable to connect to Second Life.
The system may be down.
Please try again in a few minutes, or click Help
for advice and a link to the system status web page.

I haven't had any trouble logging into second life in almost a month, I'm in right now through wireless on a linksys access point.

I do every day with my Powerbook, my G5 Powermac and my G3 Powermac. You might need to delete your SL cache, sometimes that can cause a problem. If you aren't sure how to do that and want to try right away, create a new user and download SL and try under that.

Like I said, I connect every day and even sometimes via dialup, but all I can do is look and chat, can't move much.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

PetGirl, I think you are referring to the Disk Utility. Yes, you might want to run that and repair permissions. Cocktail is utility that lets you access some BSD Linux commands via a Graphical User Interface. These commands can also fix some problems.
