Over the last week I have been encountering numerous issues running sl on my macbook. Random shut downs and not being able to rez being the most annoying. Now after yesterdays downtime I can barely keep sl going for more than 10 mins at a time without it just going "poof" from my screen. Now I am not going to rant on about the mac client needing to be better because thats not my point...my point is WHY could I run sl for literally DAYS at a time at the beginning of November and now after an update and the fixes yesterday its all gone to sh*t? Oh look....it just shut down while I was typing this thread. Can someone please give me an explanation? Can I get the original version back I was using because those of us mac users that actually spend/make money with sl would like some answers.

Thank you.

....
Hi Tonk,

have the same problems here...

Just bought the a new MacBook Pro....in hoping to get a better Performance , better GraficCard...(GeForce 8600M GT..256MB)
and SL performance is getting worse!

Crashes constantly....freezes, hardly can walk.....I just hope its the SL Client..and LL will do something VERY soon about it : P
Caue spend enough money (and sadly sold my old MacBook)..
cause if its going on like this....I ll close my business in SL...that would be a shame...but its not fun anymore : P

So, I am hoping someone would know a trick : P..and help all MacBook Pro Users..

Thank you : )

updates dont always take. I notice from time to time that the act of making some graphics pref changes helps -- i dont mean just reducing prefs, i mean just the act of going in and just making the edits. Odd behavior and i filed it as a bug.

Have you tried all the diff clients? theres the main release, the beta grid, and the first look. Try installing one of those and see if yo0u get a different performance. If thats the case, you can at least narrow down to the cause of the issue, be it the client or the computer.

Also, try the onrez viewer (www.onrez.com) - very good and pretty stable.

You can have a number of different viewers, first look, windlight, onrez, nicholaz and regular - all work well in different conditions I find - sometimes it's a matter of working through them and working out their little foibles...

Congratulations and shame on you. you are a slut in the very best possible meaning of the word!
