Hi all,

Browsing through /var/log/system.log, I found here and there the following error:

/Applications/Second Life.app/Contents/MacOS/Second Life: WARNING Unknown keyword -psn_0_1835009

Does this mean that the keyboard of a PowerBook 15" G4 @ 1.25 Mhz is not supported, or is something more serious than that?

Thanks for any input (I'm glad it's a WARNING, though!),

- Gwyn

I've used the same machine (15" PB 1.25 ) for a year, believe me it is supported ;)

If you take a really good look at the SecondLife.log file you'll see it reports loads of errors, it does make you wonder ! I've reported it in the past but never got feedback from LL. Some of the slowdown in the Mac version must be due to the amount of logging it's doing ;)

But I don't think there's anything to seriously worry about.

(Also the system log complains more about the Finder than it does any other app ! lol )

You must be quite right, Lauk — some friends reported precisely the same on other, more recent Macs. So yes, it seems that SL "expects" that we have a PC with an US keyboard, and will give a "warning" if that's not the case :)

Ah well.

The unknown keyword "-psn..." is nothing to be worried about: It is a standard communication from the Finder. The Second Life application is erroneously logging it as something it didn't expect, when it should just be ignoring it.

I've filed a task (assigned to me!) to remove the logged warning in a future release.

For the record, it has nothing to do wtih keyboards.

Thanks a lot for your explanation, Zero :-) I'm glad it's just "overlogging", hehe.

Well, since you're at it, take a good look at the hundreds of silly warnings that are regularly reported on the Mac log. I do really hope they should all be ignored... the ones that worry me most are the (definitely missing) files for the GPU programming...
