When 1.10 was released in the wild, I was amazed. Everything as rezzing so much faster. It was great!
Then i downloaded the latest fix for 1.10. Suddenly rezzing is as slow as it once was.
What happened? Did some setting change? More importantly, is there some way to un-change it?

Mari Quoting myself. In doing a little bit of informal testing, I wonder if the occlusion culling was changed for Macs in this version. It doesn't seem to be working as smooth as it was before, and things are rezzing outside of line of sight again for me. it's a shame, I miss being able to see the world. Mari

Its all gone crazy for Mac users, i think they maybe loosing the plot.
last week when the update came out i could not play SL at all due to REAL bad paformance bugs. The 34 update came out and it played better. Then over the weekend i got a new Blak Macbook with 2GB of ram...
To my suprize SL works even more poorley than my old iMac G5 and Powerbook G4....
I smell sumfin funky!

Mari Smells to me like they rewound some code to get over the problem with OS X 10.3.9 and in the process broke all the good bits of the upgrade for those of us who use Tiger. No doubt they'll work on it when they get back to work. Typical this happens on a holiday! It hit me really hard, I can't even move now, I'm waiting for my machine to be fixed and I can only get in on an old iMac, the first update was noticeably faster then came the secondary "fix" and now it's worse than before the upgrade From: someone Then over the weekend i got a new Blak Macbook with 2GB of ram...

Loki, hate to say this but if you bought the Macbook with the Intel graphics chip, that's probably a big part of the problem. SL only really properly supports ATI and NVidia at this time I think LL should have been more up-front and on the ball about the new Macs, a lot of people are suddenly finding themselves floundering in SL because they aren't getting information on how to properly spec a new Mac for SL.

So SL does not support the new Macbooks? Apple will be targeting every skool leaver and student in the world with these notebooks.
Problem is, you dont spec yur mac for playing a game. Its comes with the apple spec, and thats that.
Just have to let nature take its course. Probably try and stick withit for a while, but then gradually stop playing.

The Macbook Pros, as opposed to the Macbooks, have ATI graphics chips with decent dedicated memory. The Macbooks use a cheaper Intel chip set with shared memory. It's not just SL, but any game that makes heavy use of 3D is going to run poorly on the Macbooks. If you want a Mac notebook for 3D games, then you get the Macbook Pro.
