Anybody get this up and running on a mac? I'm running osx 10.4.11 on a G5. this release crashes on startup, like the one before it and the one before that. However 1.20.6 still seems to be working for me.
well just read the blog, macs are shut out of this release:
The Mac PowerPC will quit unexpectedly when trying to run this Release Candidate (RC9) viewer. This iteration RC9 will not be usable on the Mac PowerPC. We very much appreciate your patience in these last two iterations RC8 and RC9! This has turned out to be a complicated problem that we are actively tracking down. We hope to have this tested and resolved shortly in an upcoming iteration of the Release Candidate.

It seems to work moderately well on my MBP (summer 2007 MBP w/ nVidia 8600m GT, blah blah blah... you know the routine). I performed a fresh install (don't forget to delete the 'secondlife' folder in the Application Support folder), and have only suffered ONE beachball this evening, and that was the first time I teleported.
As always, YMMV.

There's a known issue on PowerPC based Macs that they're trying to fix, it's on the blog-post: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/06/05/new-release-candidate-viewer-120-rc9-available/

From: Blaze Nielsen well just read the blog, macs are shut out of this release Unfortunately, PPC based Macs *are* shut out, but saying "macs are shut out" is not accurate. Obviously anyone with Intel based Macs can run RC's 7, 8, and 9.

What is the point of releasing (now two) Release Candidates that can not be tested by all users? When RC8 failed to launch on certain Mac's why was a new RC released that didn't fix that?? Actually RC9 didn't get as far before crashing as RC8 did on my G5.
