Mac key stick

I've been on SL for a few weeks now.. started at 1.6.9. This whole time I've had a problem were the freakin keys stick.. So I'll fly along (holding the forward key lets say) and then when I release it, it's keeps going forward.. If I hit down it will hold in place, but releasing the down key makes me go forward again.. It's quite embarrasing to lose control of your avitar.

It usually only happens in laggy areas with lots of prims. I've seen it in non-laggy areas though too. It hadn't happened in a while but I just got it again. Could be cause I've been staying at home a lot lately.

Oh, this happens on both my Dual G5 and on my powerbook. So I think it's just a mac port issue. Sometimes ESC seems to fix it but not always, so I think that's just a coincidence. Most of the time I have to quit and restart.

Anyone else seen this or know how to fix it.

hmm... I've not experienced what you said on my dual G5 Mac.
It has something to do with your net work, isn't it? And also, see this thread.

Possible fix for mac key stick problem

I have that problem occasionally too -- I've discovered that quickly pressing the up and down arrows at the same time seems to make it stop.

Un-Controlled Flight (aka Crash)

This happens in very lagged sims and also if you are having connection problems. I assume you are on broadband connection.

Happens on my Windoze based laptop, too, when i hit an extremely lagged sim.

It's definitely lag related. I think it depends more on where you are in-world, than what system you're on in RL.

Recent software releases seemed to be causing slower and slower system FPS. But then I realized that it was 2 factors. #1. At some point I had experimented with local lighting and some other graphics settings that were causing it to be slower. So I reset them and also cut back on all the values that slow things down. #2. People have built up more on my sim which used to be mostly empty. So that has also contributed to slower performance.

Back on topic: When I first started 'playing' it was VERY laggy and I considered not going past my free 7 days. In the beginning the key-stick problem happened a lot, but I was also spending more time in "primmy" areas.. like malls and casinos. Then it happened less when I starting hanging out near home more. So I'm sure it's a combination of laggy areas and network connection. But I do have a good Static-IP, dedicated connection.

I don't think SL should drop new users in a high-lag area like the welcome center. It's like the worst case scenario for testing your system/connection/patience with lag.
