I've never shot or fought anything in SL, so I wouldn't know. Best of luck, though.

logitech precision gamepad

I use a logitech precision gamepad . with a "gamepad companion" driver . Costs $10.
The logitech site will guide you to where to get this MAC driver.
I get to assign the actions of the buttons.
I prefer to use it for regular motion rather than the wsadec buttons.
