Intego Virus Barrier anyone?

I'm running SL on a brand-new MacBook Pro under OS10.5.2 updated, and apart from 10-second pauses and the spinning beachball now and again, all is well.

A favourable review of Intego VirusBarrier and press reports that the Mac is at last to be targeted by the malware merchants now that it is gaining market share incline me to install VirusBarrier. In fact I used to have it on a previous machine and was most impressed with it, before I started in SL.

My understanding of opening and closing ports is feeble, so I am happy to run both my Mac, and VirusBarrier, with their out of the box defaults. But somewhere on these forums I once read that problems with SL might sometimes be caused by the wrong firewalls being set etc.

Can any kind and competent person out there tell me if installing VirusBarrier is likely to lead to complications with SL performance? Will I have to *gulp* alter the initial port settings that Virus Barrier installs?

VirusBarrier only takes care of um.. viruses. It does not control ports. My experience with an older version was horrific. It kept deleting my word and powerpoint files. (No MS Bashing please. I need it for work.)

The ports are controlled by your firewall, and if you have those set wrong, it will indeed block SL.
