First: Run any diagnostics that you have, to make sure your Mac does not have any directory problems or other issues that would corrupt things for you.
Second: Try doing a fresh download of the SL client software. You won't lose anything by doing that. All your clothes and other posessions are on the LL Asset Servers, not locally stored on your system. Thurd, if you still have trouble, ask here again, and someone can help you to locate where your SL Preference files are hiding on your Mac. I am at work right now, and on a PC, but when I get off work in 4 hours or so, and back to my Mac at home, I might be able to help you more. |

sounds like disk corruption

Sounds like disk corruption to me. This could mean eiher your disk is failing at the hardware level, or the disk infomation has gotten scrambled somehow.
I would 1) Backup everything vital if at all possible. 2) run the hardware diagnostics disk that came with your computer to see if it detects any hardwar problmes. . 3) boot using OS X CD and repair your boot disk with the Disk Utility to clean up the disk corruption that is already there. 4) If those 2 things don't eiher reveal a hardward problem or fix it, I would - reinstall OS X (clean OS install, but not disk wipe, important, do not diskwipe and loose all your data) - delete your entire '~/Library/Application Support/Second Life' folder _ trash and reinstall SL. _____________________

Yeah, i've tried everything i could. it just got worse. it would frezze right after i started up the mac, or it wouldn't even go into OS X. I even reinstalled the OS X. it didn't get any better. Finally I sent it back to the apple store. something wrong with the motherboard. it costed me over $300 usd. :/
I've spent way too much on this powerbook. and i wouldn't buy any portable computer from apple in the future. |

sorry to hear about that.

Sorry to hear about that Ivie. I've had really good experiences with my apple laptops. I think overall apple makes the best laptops, but of course that isn't your experience. Remember yours is just one data point, of course though it is the data point you have to pay for.
